Content Management

Content Management

Edit Your Website Easily

So often small businesses find managing their website a chore and we get it, you’d rather spend your valuable time focusing on your product/service and your customer! To help you out with this we build all our websites on a Content Management System (CMS)

It’s not as techy as it sounds! A content management system is a piece of software that keeps track of every piece of content on your website. Content can be anything from simple text to images to music and everything in between. A major benefit of using a CMS is it requires virtually no technical skill or knowledge to manage which means that you can easily take care of your website with minimal effort (although we are always available if you need a bit of extra help). Our preference at Yellow Cherry Digital is to work with open source solutions that are licence fee free and open to everyone and our favourites are Joomla and WordPress.

The short answer for Joomla is that it’s the CMS we have the most experience with, and always provides us with the right balance of functionality and flexibility that our clients need. With over 9000 extensions available to add to the core system to add or improve functionality, these include events calendars, shopping carts, image slideshows and Google Maps.

The short answer for WordPress is popularity, there are approximately 76.5 million WordPress websites around the world. Which means that many of our customers are already familiar with the editor area.

  • There are no ongoing maintenance costs to agencies/web development houses.
  • Your website can be updated regularly with ease.
  • Updates are almost instantly live.
  • There is no licence fee for Joomla or WordPress.
  • There are large communities for both Joomla and WordPress.
  • There are forums for support with issues.
  • No technical knowledge is needed
  • Extra functionality aspects can be easily added as your business grows.

Both Joomla and WordPress are template based which means templates are used to control the look and feel of the website. There are thousands of websites to choose from so don’t worry, you won’t be restricted.

After your website brief has been finalised we will begin to source appropriate templates for you and present you with a choice to choose from, we can easily alter the templates if they are not quite what you are after.

We will only present you with the highest quality templates to ensure your website is accessible and optimised for search engines.

If you already have a brand identity and can provide us with  a colour scheme, fantastic! If not we can help you to develop a brand that suits you and your business.

Responsive design is crucial for your website, with an estimated 55% of all web traffic now on mobile devices, if your website is not mobile friendly you could be losing half of your potential customers! All our websites come responsive as standard and are designed mobile first to ensure responsive design is at the forefront rather than an after thought.
