Hi I’m Rachel, I joined the YCD team in October and if you have a monthly package with us, you may have noticed that your monthly SEO reports now come from me. I look after search and optimisation here as well as working on website projects and support issues – “Web Guru” is our team term but “SEO and Development” also describes my role. I’m gradually getting to put some names to faces (or at least voices!) and look forward to working with more of you in the future. If you would like to talk to me about SEO and your website drop me an email and we can arrange a good time to talk.
When I’m not in the studio, and not hibernating (it’s been a long winter), I have a few top things I like to do, baring spending time with my family and friends (dog included). Here are probably my top 5:
Books – I’m a total bookworm, when I was little my mum used to have to hide the book I was reading when my friends came round or I would ignore them and keep reading. I even wrote my own book in primary school (a whole 134 pages) about aliens living on earth :-). My favourite books of all time so far are: Matilda (Roald Dahl), To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee), The Book Thief (Marcus Zusak).
Gin Joggers – Last year I took up running (although I am very slow) and with that started a running group at our local pub. Since then I have worked up to running a 10k (although I now need to get back up to this) and some of the members ran the half marathon on Sunday. We have all different levels/distances of runners and it’s a really great way to keep yourself motivated to get out and about. Looking for a 10k in May to get me back into proper routine, and hoping to get myself speeding up a little this year. You can find us on facebook here
Baking Cakes – While I haven’t had much time for it recently, I love baking cakes and coming up with great cake ideas for birthdays and celebrations, it’s good fun and cake makes people happy :-), it’s also a great thing to do with my nieces and nephews.
Fruit Beer – I am a huge fan! Kriek (Cherry) is probably my overall favourite. My husband and I went to Belgium in November and it was great to be able to try so many different variety’s in the place they were from.
Dungeons and Dragons – A group of our friends, started playing Dungeons and Dragons last year, it’s great fun! My husband is the DM and leads us through some great stories (if we don’t go off on strange tangents that he hasn’t accounted for). There is usually wine and food involved in our get togethers and if we don’t fancy D&D we play the Firefly boardgame.
